These paintings were made at a time when I first discovered the Island of Portland. Although they didn’t directly to the landscape and plants of the Island, it was a time were I began to establish a new garden and moved into a new studio. It was a productive and important time for the garden work. I also spent time in the beautiful formal walled gardens of Clarendon House in Salisbury.
